About CU

Our Mission

Catholic Underground CT is a young adult event where Catholics from all around Connecticut gather together once a month to pray and experience Catholic culture and fellowship.  It is all about growing in faith, building relationships, and growing the Catholic community.

Catholic young adult groups take place all over the state.  It is our mission to bring them all together once a month to pray, meet like-minded people, be joined to a greater community, and have them leave inspired so as to go out and live their faith in the world around them.

This event is modeled after the incredibly successful Catholic Underground New York started and run by the Franciscian Friars of the Renewal.

About Catholic Underground

Catholic Underground was founded by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal in New York City – www.franciscanfriars.com. It is a direct attempt to reach out to our culture with the Gospel truth of Jesus Christ and to blend Catholicism with the culture at large.

The first part of the evening consists of Eucharistic adoration which begins with Evening Prayer.  This is the universal prayer of the Church prayed by Catholics throughout the world in every time zone and in every language. After Evening Prayer, there is a time of simple praise, a time where music is played in order to lead us deeper into prayer.  This provides a window for each person to personally encounter Jesus Christ.  The Sacrament of Confession is also available.

In the second part of the evening, we move downstairs for the social gathering and fellowship.  Sometimes a Catholic band is showcased; at other times we have game nights, movie nights, dances, or just have time to meet other Catholics to build deep and abiding friendships.  We end our evening as we began, with the prayer of the Church (Night Prayer), which is short and simple.

Catholic Underground CT meets every 3rd Saturday at 7:30PM from September to May and takes place at Holy Apostles College & Seminary, 33 Prospect Hill Rd, Cromwell, CT (unless otherwise noted on our calendar).
